About the Role

Nextdoor is seeking a highly skilled Principal Software Engineer to join our Data Platform team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining a highly scalable data platform that will power the development of Nextdoor for the foreseeable future.

The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of data infrastructure, governance, and compliance, as well as experience working with cloud technologies such as AWS. You will be responsible for envisioning, architecting, building, and owning a highly scalable data platform that will help power the development of Nextdoor.

You will actively participate in all phases of the software development lifecycle, including analysis, technical design, planning, development, testing/CICD, release, and post-production/escalation support. You will also build partnerships with key stakeholders, evangelize the use of the platform, and develop a roadmap for future development.

As a member of our team, you will have the opportunity to work on a wide range of projects, from building out our data infrastructure to developing new features and tools. You will also have the chance to collaborate with other teams, including engineering, product, and design.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, build, and maintain a highly scalable data platform
  • Participate in all phases of the software development lifecycle

Requirements:

  • 7-10 years of experience working on data infrastructure at petabyte scale
  • Deep understanding of data infrastructure, governance, and compliance
  • Experience working with cloud technologies such as AWS
  • Strong background in software engineering and data infrastructure
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
