This position is integral to the Safety, Quality, & Mission Assurance division. This group is dedicated to overseeing and evaluating the procedures that inform Blue Origin's design, manufacturing, and operational practices, ensuring that system safety engineering, environmental health and safety, product integrity, and continuous improvement processes align with our mission and vision.

As a member of a diverse and dedicated team of specialists, you will contribute significantly to all facets of developing, testing, and launching space systems that support Blue Origin's aspirations. In this role, you will establish, implement, maintain, and enforce quality system processes that are vital for products in both development and production testing and launch settings.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct visual and dimensional inspections
  • Initiate continuous improvement initiatives
  • Perform compliance surveillance assessments
  • Analyze and report on assembly and testing activities and trends
  • Create actionable metrics to promote sustainable improvement
  • Lead Root Cause Analysis and Corrective Action Board activities
  • Develop quality metrics in accordance with company procedures
  • Facilitate resolution of quality issues with diverse teams, leading causal analysis to identify root causes and corrective actions
  • Oversee and assist in receiving activities
  • Independently review and document non-conformances related to hardware, materials, and processes
  • Engage in test and flight data reviews
  • Participate in all lifecycle reviews
  • Contribute to post-test and flight inspection activities
  • Lead Pre-Ship Review activities
  • Support field sites with Quality Engineer tasks as necessary
  • Relevant experience with launch vehicles, rocket engines, and aircraft subassemblies
  • Implement and enhance process surveillance activities in line with company procedures

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or 5-8 years of relevant experience in a quality engineering role
  • Quality Assurance experience in aerospace, space launch, military, or commercial aviation environments
  • Familiarity with user documentation, system configurations, and assemblies
  • Experience conducting AS9100 or ISO9001 audits within a Quality Management System
  • Ability to support test and launch operations during non-standard shifts as required
  • Must be a U.S. citizen, national, permanent resident, or lawfully admitted refugee or asylee

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Quality assurance experience in rocket engine production or testing environments
  • Experience transitioning products from development to production and operations
  • Quality Management System audit experience
  • Six Sigma Green or Black Belt certification or equivalent
  • ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE)
