Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Hydroclimate Change and Reservoir Evaporation Projections for Texas River Basins

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled postdoctoral researcher to join our team at The University of Texas at Austin. The successful candidate will have a strong background in atmospheric science, hydroclimate change, data analysis, and numerical modeling. The researcher will work under the supervision of Dr. Zong-Liang Yang and collaborate with the Texas Water Development Board.

Key Responsibilities

  • Proficiency in analyzing climate data from CMIP6 or similar datasets.
  • Strong skills in managing large datasets, including climate projections and hydrological data.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as NCAR Command Language (NCL), Python, R, or MATLAB for data processing and analysis.

Required Qualifications

PhD in Atmospheric or Hydrological Sciences. Ph.D. must have been earned within the past three years.

Preferred Qualifications

  • PhD degree in Atmospheric Science, Meteorology, Climate Science, Hydrology or related field.
  • Proven experience with Earth system models (ESMs) and downscaling techniques.
  • Expertise in hydrological models, particularly those related to streamflow and reservoir evaporation.
  • Experience with bias correction techniques such as quantile mapping.
  • Experience in performing sensitivity analysis and uncertainty quantification in hydrological projections.
  • Demonstrated ability to document methodologies and findings in detailed technical reports.
  • Experience in preparing project deliverables and progress presentations.
  • Ability to communicate complex scientific concepts to diverse stakeholders, including water planners and environmental agencies.
