Polysomnography Technician

Position Overview:
The Polysomnographic Technician plays a vital role in supporting the Technologist in conducting comprehensive sleep studies and analyses, along with related interventions under the direct supervision of a certified Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) or the clinical director (MD, PhD, DO) or their designee.
Key Responsibilities:
As a collaborative member of the healthcare team, you will contribute to achieving departmental goals and objectives, including:
- Meeting all objectives outlined on the organizational performance metrics.
- Exhibiting a positive attitude towards customer service.
- Achieving positive feedback in patient satisfaction surveys, aiming for the 90th percentile or higher.
Technical Competencies:
The RPSGT will demonstrate proficiency in the following areas:
- Collecting, analyzing, and integrating patient data to address individual needs, including mental, physical, psychological, and relevant medical history.
- Preparing and calibrating necessary equipment for testing, while assessing maintenance needs for sleep apparatus and software.
- Applying electrodes and sensors in accordance with established standards.
- Conducting physiological calibrations to ensure accurate signal acquisition and making adjustments as needed.
- Assisting with positive airway pressure (PAP) titration studies and mask fittings in line with published protocols.
- Adhering to procedural guidelines for PSG, CPAP, Bi-level, MWT, and MSLT to guarantee proper data collection.
- Documenting routine observations, including sleep stages and clinical events, as per the procedural manual.
- Supporting qualified personnel in implementing necessary interventions to ensure safe and high-quality patient care.
Administrative Duties:
Additional responsibilities include:
- Answering phone calls, scheduling appointments, and addressing patient inquiries.
- Managing medical records as required.
- Ordering and replenishing departmental supplies.
- Maintaining accurate documentation on patient records, logs, procedure schedules, and billing.
- Keeping supervisors informed of patients needing alterations in care.
- Assisting in data collection as assigned.
- Performing equipment maintenance, preparation, cleaning, and sterilization as directed.
- Educating patients on the use of medical equipment and supplies under supervision.

Qualifications:
To be considered for this position, candidates should possess:
- Graduation from an accredited School of Clinical Polysomnography; RRT/CRT preferred.
- Two years of experience in a respiratory therapy setting preferred.
- Certification from a recognized School of Clinical Polysomnography.
Work Environment:
This role involves daily patient interaction, which may include exposure to bodily fluids.
