Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Patient Account Representative to join our team at Guidehouse. As a Patient Account Representative, you will be responsible for performing specific billing processes, follow-up, account resolution, adjustments, and scanning as required. This role works closely with other departments to facilitate the meeting of both departmental facility goals and objectives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Contact third-party payers and guarantors via payer websites or by phone to resolve account balances on all assigned accounts.
  • Work all correspondence within 24 hours of receipt, detailing notes regarding correspondence in the client's system.
  • Work all denials, taking necessary actions to obtain account resolution.
  • Submit appeals, as appropriate, for all non-clinical denials.
  • Monitor all denials for trends and issues, reporting findings to supervisor.
  • Bill or re-bill claims as necessary.
  • Ensure the client follows all state and federal rules and regulations, both billing and HIPAA.
  • Complete assigned special projects within given time frames.
  • Attend training sessions and seminars offered by the client and third-party payers.
  • Appropriately document each account worked in the client's practice management system.
  • Make necessary corrections in the client's practice management system.
  • Resolve or forward all address and/or plan changes as appropriate to ensure the integrity of the insurance master is maintained.
  • Update patient accounts with corrected demographic or insurance information.
  • Post adjustments based on standard operating procedures or as directed by leadership.
  • Handle all customer calls, both internal and external, in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Utilize desktop applications, including Word and Excel.
  • Initiate and follow through on projects, working independently with minimal supervision.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 1-year experience in office, customer service, or healthcare field preferred.
