About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Operations Manager to join our team at Smithfield Foods. Key Responsibilities
  • Production Planning and Execution: Coordinate all shift operations, including the activities of salaried and hourly production group leaders.
  • Employee Relations and Development: Maintain a high standard of employee relations to ensure that Smithfield is an employer of choice and employees are aware of their obligations.
  • Safety and Quality Assurance: Initiate and/or maintain required safety and ergonomic programs to ensure a safe working environment and meet company goals.
  • Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement changes to increase efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Team Leadership: Guide group leaders in safety, food safety, quality, process control, personnel practices, efficient operations, employee development, and employee retention goals.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience: Bachelor's Degree from an accredited four-year college or university and 5+ years' relevant experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Manufacturing Knowledge: Demonstrated experience in team management/development or project leadership, with knowledge of yields, plant efficiencies, and operations procedures.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Knowledge of OSHA Standards and USDA and HACCP regulations.
  • Leadership Skills: Ability to lead a diverse work force and work well with others in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
