Overview:
The Patient Access Coordinator serves as the initial point of contact for patients, families, and visitors. This role is essential in ensuring a seamless patient experience by managing patient flow, scheduling appointments, and overseeing the registration process. Responsibilities include verifying patient demographics, clinical data, financial details, and insurance coverage during the registration phase, as well as entering patient and guarantor information into the patient accounting system. The Coordinator is also responsible for collecting necessary signatures and imaging registration documents.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Welcome patients, family members, and visitors, providing them with necessary information, directions, and assistance to ensure efficient service delivery.
  • Facilitate communication with healthcare providers and departments to maintain smooth patient flow and uphold data accuracy.
  • Manage patient appointments and handle phone inquiries effectively.
  • Conduct the registration process, ensuring timely and precise collection of demographic, clinical, financial, and insurance information.

Qualifications:

Education:

Preferred completion of one year of post-secondary business education.

Experience:

1. At least one year of experience in an office environment is preferred.

2. Experience in a healthcare setting is advantageous.

Skills and Competencies:

Self-driven and detail-oriented individual capable of working independently. Must possess the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and demonstrate flexibility to meet departmental needs.

Must provide proof of Basic Life Support (BLS Healthcare Provider certification) prior to employment or within 60 days of hire and maintain current status.

Completion of Mandatory Reporting: Child and Dependent Adult Abuse training within 6 months of hire and renewal every 5 years is required.
