We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Principal Economist to join our Stores Economics and Sciences team at Amazon. As a key member of our team, you will contribute to developing and implementing economic models and frameworks to support optimal pricing and policy decisions in our two-sided marketplace.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and execute an analytic vision to solve business-relevant problems in the context of supply chain systems and fees.
- Collaborate with science and technology teams across Amazon to design and implement pricing policy changes.
- Lead the development of causal models to isolate the impact of fee and policy changes from other business actions.
- Provide guidance to scientists to develop econometric models to influence fee pricing worldwide.
- PhD in Economics, Computer Science, or a highly related field (Statistics, Finance, Math).
- 10+ years of experience in industry, consulting, government, or academic research.
- Experience with big data and machine learning or data science.
- Coding ability in a scripting language such as R or Python or STATA.
- Experience in building analytic or scientific data products or solutions.
- Strong written and verbal communications skills to convey complicated processes and systems to business partners and senior leadership.
- Strong track record in performing high-quality analysis of data at scale.
The Stores Economics and Sciences team is a central science team that supports Amazon's Retail and Supply Chain leadership. We tackle some of Amazon's most challenging economics and machine learning problems, where our mandate is to impact the business on a massive scale.
