Job Summary:

The Commercial Construction Estimator position is a critical role at RMT, requiring a skilled professional to estimate construction costs, create competitive advantages, and leverage strategic trade partnerships to deliver accurate project budgets. Ideal candidates will possess strong commercial construction estimating experience, a robust trade and vendor network, and a proven ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop comprehensive project budgets and detailed estimates, including quantity take-off and pricing for self-performed trades.
  • Conduct scope assessments and prepare Scope of Work documents for bidders.
  • Establish bidder lists and issue bid invitations for each project.
  • Distribute bid documents to subcontractors and post them online using SharePoint.
  • Set up bid forms and prepare preliminary schedules for bid purposes.
  • Maintain record copies of bid documents.
  • Prepare scope of work for each trade to be used in subcontracts.
  • Compile bid tabulations for each trade and recommend award decisions.
  • Participate in turnover meetings with Project Managers and Superintendents.
  • Assist with business development proposals, including written proposals to clients.


Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field (preferred).
  • 5-10 years of experience in lead estimating roles for commercial new construction and renovations.
  • Or an equivalent combination of education and experience.


Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong technical and communication skills are essential.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Proficiency in construction estimation software and tools (Bluebeam, Plan Swift, RS Means).
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of Procore and Microsoft Office (preferred).
