Position Overview:
This Electrical Engineer I will be tasked with designing electrical systems for Trane's Commercial HVAC products. Key responsibilities include the design and layout of main unit control panels and auxiliary control panels.

Additional duties involve the selection and qualification of electrical and electro-mechanical power components, including electrical wiring, transformers, circuit breakers, contactors, overloads, variable frequency drives, solid-state starters, and wye-delta starters.

The role will also entail generating electrical designs, creating control panel prototypes, and preparing test documentation and reports, along with the necessary product documentation for production release.

Further responsibilities include integrating various pre-engineered devices into the unit design, such as low voltage sensors, and both wireless and wired interconnection devices, as well as Trane-developed HVAC control electronics.

The ideal candidate will possess the technical knowledge to support product design projects, review data for product validation testing, interpret technical agency standards, and execute projects in line with standard engineering practices.


This position offers a Hybrid work schedule (3 or more days on-site per week) and will be based out of our designated location.


Core Responsibilities:
• Develop control box layout designs, wire harness routing, and transformer load calculations.
• Create laboratory test plans and analyze test data.
• Manage appropriate agency and regulatory approval processes.
• Conduct qualification testing activities.
• Develop unit wiring schematics using AutoCAD and Creo Schematics.
• Prepare comprehensive schedules and reports for assigned projects.
• Provide engineering support to the Product Planning and Technical Support Team.
• Assist the Order Fulfillment teams in addressing safety, assembly, and quality issues.
• Promote electrical quality and productivity improvement initiatives.

Minimum Qualifications:
A Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering/Technology or Engineering Physics is required.

Key Competencies:
• Strong interest in HVAC applications and operating conditions for refrigeration equipment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Project, and PowerPoint) is essential.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD and/or Creo Schematics is required.
• Ability to collaborate effectively as part of a project team.
• Strong technical, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
• Commitment to quality and customer service.


• Willingness to learn product safety and design standards, including but not limited to UL/CSA 1995, UL 60335, UL508, UL508A, National Electric Code, ANSI Z21.47, ASHRAE 90.1, etc.

Basic experience with 3D-CAD applications such as Creo is a plus but not mandatory.

Compensation:
