About the Role

We are seeking a highly dedicated and passionate Instructional Assistant to join our team at KIPP DC. As an Instructional Assistant, you will play a critical role in supporting our students with special education needs, working closely with the classroom teacher to provide specialized instruction and create a positive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the classroom teacher in providing specialized instruction to students with special education needs, making the curriculum and daily activities accessible for all students.
  • Assist the lead instructor with classroom instruction and management, including preparing lesson plans and materials.
  • Work with students one-on-one or in small group settings to tailor lessons to individual needs and assist with challenging assignments.
  • Monitor and record student progress and behavior to inform instruction and meet IEP goals.
  • Support teachers in preparing lesson plans that meet the needs of diverse learners.
Requirements and Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Experience working with middle school or high school-aged students with special needs in a traditional or public charter school preferred.
  • Commitment to working with students from educationally under-served communities preferred.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of and ability to assist in instructing reading, writing, and mathematics in small groups and 1:1 instruction.
  • Must be energetic, reliable, flexible, and integrity-driven.
  • Strong communication skills to ensure effective, positive interactions with the teaching team, staff, families, and children.
Benefits and Compensation
  • Competitive salary range: $35,865 - $53,090.
  • Robust benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, voluntary benefits, and employer-paid benefits.
  • 403(b) retirement account with 3% employer contribution and 3% match with vesting after three years.
  • Up to 10 paid sick days, 12 paid holidays, paid breaks, and pre-tax deductions for transportation costs.
