Job Summary

As a Family Store Sales Associate, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service, operating a cash register, and maintaining a clean and organized store environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Customer Service: Assist customers in purchasing items from The Salvation Army, ring up sales, and provide excellent customer service.
  • Cash Handling: Collect monies, count change, and prepare receipts, ensuring the security and accountability of all cash register funds and sales records.
  • Store Maintenance: Maintain the neatness and security of the cash register area, ensure that forms, bags, etc. are adequately stocked, and check all store displays to ensure that items are maintained and displayed in a neat and orderly manner.
  • Donation Processing: Assist customers who are donating items to The Salvation Army, direct customers to the proper loading/unloading area, and may assist with hauling donations to the storage area.
  • Inventory Management: Place and arrange items in the store as directed, rotate and/or rearrange stock as directed, and return items to the proper location after customers have handled them.
  • Communication: Answer the store telephone in a tactful and courteous manner, assist customers by responding to questions and providing directions and/or general information, and may schedule and record donation pick-ups.
  • Cleaning and Maintenance: Clean all display racks and shelves, sweep and mop floors, clean windows and mirrors, and ensure that the store is maintained in a clean and inviting manner.
Requirements:
  • Education: High school diploma or G.E.D.
  • Experience: Experience working in a retail store preferred.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to meet attendance requirements, read, write, and communicate in English, operate a cash register, perform routine mathematical computations, and count change. Ability to perform frequent walking and/or standing, kneeling or squatting relieved by lesser periods of sitting or operating a vehicle. Ability to lift, carry, and/or push/pull heavy donations, furniture, appliances, etc.
