Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Dental Hygienist to provide high-quality preventive oral health services to patients in a clinical setting. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in dental hygiene, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide thorough and gentle prophylaxis to patients
  • Accurately chart each patient's periodontal health
  • Counsel patients on oral health, including the role of nutrition
  • Check on patient comfort during treatment and help alleviate anxiety
  • Apply cavity-preventative agents, such as fluorides and sealants
  • Perform scaling, root planning, and selective polishing as needed
  • Review patient health and dental history forms and update as necessary
  • Oversee cleanliness of the treatment room according to sterilization procedures
  • Counsel patients in Tobacco Cessation
  • Securely store and handle patient records in compliance with office policies and procedures
Requirements
  • Minimum 2 years current experience required
  • Michigan Dental Hygiene license required
  • Associate degree in Dental Hygiene required
  • Experience with Cavitron required
  • Dentrix EMR Experience required
  • Spanish language proficiency strongly preferred
  • Good interpretation skills to maintain effective rapport with patients, dentists, and staff
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations
  • Must be familiar with Microsoft Office and capable of learning electronic healthcare systems software
Working Conditions

The work environment is a clinical dental setting with contact with patients and staff. The employee is exposed to medicinal preparations, communicable disease, toxic substances, and other conditions common to a clinic environment.

The physical demands of the job include standing, walking, sitting, and talking or hearing while working with employees to resolve facility problems. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
