Position Purpose:
The Construction Pipe Crew Assistant is responsible for executing various physical tasks related to infrastructure projects, specifically focusing on pipeline installation and maintenance. This role is essential in supporting the crew in achieving project goals under the supervision of the foreman.
Key Responsibilities:
- Engage in strenuous manual labor associated with pipeline and heavy construction projects.
- Assist in the loading, unloading, and distribution of materials and equipment at designated sites.
- Prepare construction sites by cleaning, digging trenches, and erecting scaffolding as needed.
- Utilize hand tools and equipment to level surfaces and prepare for concrete pouring.
- Support the installation of water and sewer lines by assisting skilled workers.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment by disposing of waste properly.
- Conduct routine maintenance and safety inspections of tools and equipment.
- Adhere to safety protocols and promote a culture of safety on the job site.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Proficient in operating various hand and power tools.
- Ability to follow instructions and demonstrate a commitment to skill enhancement.
- Effective communication skills with supervisors and team members.
- Basic understanding of underground construction techniques and safety practices.
- Exhibit a strong safety-first mindset and comply with all safety regulations.

- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as required.
- Possess reliable transportation for commuting to job sites.
Physical Requirements:
- Capable of performing physical tasks for extended periods, including standing, walking, and lifting.
- Ability to lift and carry weights of at least 75 pounds regularly.
- Comfortable working in various weather conditions and environments.
- Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
Education and Experience:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar role within road construction.
- Experience with underground construction practices.
- Valid driver's license required.
Work Environment:
This position typically involves outdoor work in varying weather conditions, including exposure to noise, vibration, and potentially hazardous materials. Safety gear must be worn at all times to mitigate risks associated with construction activities.
