Part-Time Special Education Teacher Opportunities

The Buffalo Hearing & Speech Center is seeking a Special Education Itinerant Teacher to join our team. As a Special Education Itinerant Teacher, you will work as a member of a multidisciplinary team to design and implement individual lessons to meet the student's IFSP or IEP goals.
Key Responsibilities- Evaluate each child in each area of skill development using formal and informal measures upon entrance into the program and provide updates on a quarterly basis.
- Design and implement lessons involving readiness skill development and modeling appropriate speech and language skills during sessions.
- Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team, including the child's regular education teacher, in the implementation and carryover of individual therapy goals.
- Assist and collaborate with the multidisciplinary team in the implementation and carryover of individual therapy goals.
- Provide ongoing information to the multidisciplinary team regarding specific teaching and/or behavior management strategies.
- Assist the child within the classroom or home environment to encourage compliance with expectations.
- Gather information on a monthly basis from each of the child's provider(s) for service coordination log.
- Responsible with other team members for children's supervision and safety.
- Maintain contact with the parent or guardian regarding their child's progress on a regular basis.
- Attend IFSP or CPSE meetings when necessary.
- Accurately complete and submit required paperwork.
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
- Special Education Teacher behavioral competencies.
- Ability to learn on the job and change quickly as situations require.
- New York State teaching certification in Students with Disabilities Birth - Grade 2 or Permanent New York State Special Education teaching certification.
The Special Education Itinerant Teacher will work in a variety of settings, including Pre-K, Head Start, daycare, or in the home. Services will occur either in the classroom or out of the classroom depending upon the requirement of the IEP.
