Job Summary

The National Nuclear Security Administration is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to fill the role of Supervisory General Engineer. This position is responsible for providing project and contract management of capital asset acquisitions and select other design and construction projects at Y-12.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide PMO and project capital line item management, developing and executing budget requests, scheduling, prioritizing, and monitoring of contractor performance.
  • Provide input and feedback concerning the contractor performance measures and goals regarding the EPC activities.
  • Evaluate the contractor's performance in assigned organization and functional areas and prepares contract performance feedback reports.
  • Prepare and present project reports and briefings for the Department of Energy (DOE)/NNSA management and HQ staff.
  • Support public meetings as necessary to inform interested parties of the PMO and associated projects and to solicit public concerns.
  • Represent DOE/NNSA in coordinating project requirements with other state, federal, and local governmental agencies.
Requirements

  • Must be able to obtain/maintain a Q level Security Clearance.

Qualifications

A qualified candidate's online application and resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower NNSA pay band level or GS grade level in the Federal Service, i.e., EN-4 or GS-15 equivalent.

Specialized experience for this position is defined as: Experience managing safe, quality project execution on schedule and within budget by providing leadership and direction to the staff on Federal oversight activities, project goals/objectives, and key project milestones.

Examples of Specialized Experience: 1. Experience providing project and contract management of capital asset acquisitions and select other design and construction projects. 2. Experience providing significant and innovative recommendations for advancing projects and programs.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience. Examples of qualifying unpaid experience may include: volunteer work done through National Service programs (such as Peace Corps and AmeriCorps); as well as work for other community-based philanthropic and social organizations. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills; and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. CTAP/ICTAP candidates: To be considered 'well qualified' you must meet all of the requirements as described in this section. If you are eligible for career transition assistance plans such as ICTAP or CTAP, you must meet the definition of 'well qualified' which is defined as having a score of 85 or better.
