Position: Secondary English Language Arts Instructor (Bilingual Mandarin)


We are in search of a passionate and skilled secondary English language arts instructor to become a vital part of our esteemed educational team at Novel Prep. The ideal candidate will possess a robust foundation in English literature and composition, equipped to teach a diverse range of courses, including English 9, Honors English 9, English 10, Honors English 10, English 11 (American Literature), English 12 (British Literature), AP English Language and Composition, AP English Literature and Composition, and Academic Writing.


The successful applicant will be dedicated to creating an inclusive and stimulating educational atmosphere that encourages critical thinking, analytical reasoning, and effective communication among students.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Design, implement, and deliver engaging lessons that meet curriculum standards and objectives for the assigned English courses.
  • Foster a supportive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes student engagement, collaboration, and respect for diverse viewpoints.
  • Address the varied learning needs of students, including those with special requirements and English language learners, through differentiated instructional strategies.
  • Evaluate student performance using a variety of formative and summative assessment methods, providing timely and constructive feedback to enhance academic growth.
  • Employ effective classroom management techniques to maintain a positive and orderly learning environment conducive to student achievement.
  • Collaborate with fellow educators to develop interdisciplinary projects, share best practices, and synchronize teaching methodologies across grade levels and subjects.
  • Maintain regular communication with students, parents, and guardians regarding academic progress, expectations, and opportunities for enrichment or support.
  • Stay informed about advancements in English education, including innovative teaching methods, educational technologies, and relevant research findings.
  • Engage in professional development activities, faculty meetings, and school-wide events.
  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by school leadership.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in English, Education, or a related discipline; a master's degree is preferred.
  • Valid teaching certification/license in secondary English language arts (or equivalent).
  • A minimum of two years of recent teaching experience at the high school level, demonstrating effectiveness in English literature and composition instruction.
  • Proficiency in various instructional strategies, assessment techniques, and educational technologies to enhance student learning and engagement.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, students, parents, and other stakeholders.
  • Commitment to fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion in education, with the capacity to create supportive learning environments for all students.
