The Panther Group is looking for a committed Purchasing Manager to oversee and enhance the purchasing operations within the organization. This pivotal role is designed to establish purchasing as an independent function, distinct from supply chain activities.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop a team of two Buyers, offering mentorship and direction as they advance in their careers.
  • Work in tandem with the sales department to ensure precise estimated times of arrival (ETA) for orders.
  • Coordinate with operational teams to guarantee the prompt acquisition of shop supplies, manufacturing components, and other essential materials.
  • Build and sustain robust relationships with vendors to improve the efficiency of the purchasing process.
  • Employ analytical skills to interpret data, draw sound conclusions, and make strategic purchasing choices.
  • Utilize MS Excel for data management, including the integration of data sets to generate valuable insights.

Required Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 6-8 years of experience in procurement, particularly within a manufacturing context.
  • Exceptional analytical thinking skills, with the ability to evaluate and manipulate data to inform decision-making.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems is necessary; experience with Epicor is advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Capability to work collaboratively with sales and operations teams, ensuring cohesive interdepartmental alignment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
