The Panther Group is looking for a committed Purchasing Manager to oversee our procurement processes. This pivotal position is designed to establish purchasing as an independent function, distinct from supply chain operations.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Lead and mentor a team of two Buyers, offering direction and support to facilitate their professional development.
  • Work in close partnership with the sales department to ensure precise delivery timelines for orders.
  • Coordinate with operational teams to guarantee the prompt acquisition of shop supplies, manufacturing parts, and other essential materials.
  • Build and sustain robust vendor partnerships to strengthen the purchasing operations.
  • Employ analytical skills to evaluate data, derive accurate insights, and make well-informed purchasing choices.
  • Manage and analyze data utilizing MS Excel, including the integration of data sets to generate valuable insights.

Required Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 6-8 years of experience in procurement, particularly within a manufacturing context.
  • Exceptional analytical thinking skills, with the ability to interpret and manipulate data to support decision-making.
  • Experience with ERP systems is necessary; knowledge of Epicor is advantageous but not mandatory.
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively with sales and operational teams, ensuring cohesive departmental alignment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
