The Risk & Underwriting Manager will lead the Risk and Underwriting team, ensuring the implementation of effective procedures. This role requires a dedicated, detail-oriented team player with extensive professional expertise and a proven track record in risk management, underwriting, project management, and operations management within the merchant bankcard sector.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee and manage the risk and underwriting teams effectively.
  • Possess a comprehensive understanding of risk and underwriting for both low-risk and high-risk accounts.
  • Enhance and execute risk and underwriting policies and procedures.
  • Monitor and manage departmental service level agreements (SLAs).
  • Stay updated on industry regulations, compliance, fraud trends, and technological advancements.
  • Provide training to the team on industry regulations, compliance, fraud trends, and technology shifts.
  • Regularly track, monitor, and report on risk performance metrics.
  • Forecast and manage portfolio performance to remain within compliant thresholds.
  • Handle account reserve management and reporting.
  • Oversee the merchant chargeback remediation strategy.
  • Support all escalations related to Risk and Underwriting issues.
  • Conduct internal audits to ensure compliance during the underwriting processes.
  • Assist in establishing new ISO/Bank partnerships.
  • Collaborate closely with sales, customer service, and deployment teams to facilitate a smooth onboarding experience for new merchants.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Ability to address critical business challenges with innovative solutions.
  • Demonstrated excellence in providing personalized customer service.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong analytical capabilities with the ability to interpret complex financial data.
  • Thorough understanding of credit risk assessment and underwriting principles.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
  • Experience in the Merchant Services Industry is essential.
  • Proven experience in Risk and Underwriting management.
  • A Bachelor's Degree is preferred.
  • ETA CPP certification is preferred.
SALARY:

This position includes quarterly profit-sharing bonuses as part of a comprehensive compensation package, along with a full suite of medical, dental, retirement planning, and other benefits.
  • Base salary range: $94,000 - $125,000.
  • Annualized salary including quarterly profit-sharing bonus and comprehensive benefits program range: $120,525 - $157,725.
