The Senior Accounting Leader will be responsible for leading the accounting function and team at MasTec West, ensuring the integrity of the company's financial records and compliance with regulatory requirements. This role will partner with internal stakeholders to assess the operation of the organization and identify solutions for process challenges.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and manage the daily operations of the accounting function and team, including General Accounting, Project Accounting, Fixed Assets, Accounts Payable, Billings, and Payroll.
- Develop and maintain business processes and accounting policies and procedures to strengthen the internal control environment and integrity of the books and records.
- Oversee the financial accounting close process, including revenue, cost of revenue, operating expenses, and balance sheet accounts, in a timely and accurate manner.
- Manage audit inquiries and ensure timely and adequate responses are provided.
- Maintain compliance with government and organizational reporting requirements.
- Partner with FP&A to support data needs and analysis, including executive-level reporting for performance monitoring.
- Provide consistent and reliable data for ongoing forecasting and planning, including P&L and cash flow.
- Oversee cash management for the region, monitoring KPIs and driving actions as needed.
- Perform ad hoc analysis to understand variances in financial and operational drivers.
- Identify financial and operational opportunities and work across functions to drive improvement.
- Lead business transformation efforts in conjunction with strategic priorities.
- BS in Finance, Accounting, or Business Management; MBA, MS, and/or CPA preferred.
- Strong technical knowledge of GAAP, accounting processes, internal controls, and accounting/ERP systems.
- 10 years of progressive finance leadership experience, with a minimum of 5 years serving in a leadership role supporting a field-based business; energy/construction industry experience preferred.
- Ability to accurately and efficiently close books, report timely results, and explain variances.
- Strong collaboration skills with the ability to communicate vision and gain alignment with senior leaders.
- Ability to influence, adapt, and lead through change and ambiguity in a dynamic growth environment.
- Problem solver with a focus on simplification; adept at envisioning, articulating, implementing, and building consensus around optimal solutions.
