Description: Freeman Boatworks, renowned globally for its exceptional quality, performance, and comfort, is looking for a Mold Maintenance Technician to become a vital part of our team.

You will take charge of assembling foam jigs, applying tooling gel, laminating, conducting mold repairs, and welding components of various sizes.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Inspect parts to identify necessary repairs.
  • Repair surface imperfections in tooling gel (scratches, voids, surface distortion, etc.) using grinders, buffers, drills, or other specialized tools.
  • Mix and apply tooling gel and/or resins for repairs, adhering to safety protocols and disposal guidelines.
  • Perform spot spraying of tooling gel.
  • Assemble foam jigs and apply tooling gel to them.
  • Laminate multiple layers of fiberglass to achieve the required thickness per mold specifications.
  • Weld and attach steel frames to new molds.
  • Construct and frame glass master parts from existing molds.
  • Modify, repair, and finish current glass masters.
Qualifications:
  • Prior experience with gel coat and/or paint repairs is preferred.
  • Experience with fiberglass or in auto body repair is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with mixing gel coats and/or paint with activators is beneficial.
  • Solid understanding of repair tools (sanders, buffers, spray equipment).

Personal Attributes: Detail-oriented, capable of meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Physical Requirements:
  • Includes, but is not limited to: climbing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, lifting up to 50 lbs., stretching, squatting, and bending.
  • May require working in awkward positions or confined spaces for extended periods.
  • Ability to work in a non-climate-controlled environment.
  • Exposure to heat, cold, dust, fumes, and various outdoor weather conditions.

May be exposed to acetone, resin, fiberglass, putties, glues, and cleaners.
