Financial Operations Consultant

Role Overview

The Financial Operations Consultant will deliver essential financial management and analytical support to align with the strategic goals of the Financial Management Division.

Key Responsibilities

  • Consolidate and verify the accuracy of budget and financial reports, ensuring all documentation is complete and submitted on time.
  • Monitor fund execution to ensure compliance with established spending limits and resource allocation plans.
  • Extract and analyze financial reports, identifying any discrepancies in obligations and expenditures.
  • Review and enhance current processes by developing Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Conduct data analytics on various financial reports, providing insights to Federal Financial Analysts for further action.
  • Investigate problem disbursements and reconcile payroll-related documents against financial transactions.
  • Maintain organized electronic documentation in accordance with established naming conventions.
  • Utilize automated budgeting systems and software tools to facilitate budgeting tasks.
  • Prepare weekly reports summarizing accomplishments and pending tasks for management review.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.
  • Proficiency in data analytics is essential.
  • Background checks are mandatory.
  • COVID vaccination or an approved exemption is required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with Department of Defense Appropriations is preferred.
  • Understanding of federal fiscal law principles is necessary.
  • Familiarity with the Department of the Navy Financial System is advantageous.
  • Advanced problem-solving skills and a commitment to continuous learning.
  • Excellent time management and organizational abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Capacity to meet minimum clearance requirements.
