Reality Capture Specialist

Orbital Engineering, Inc. is seeking a skilled Reality Capture Technician to support our Hammond, IN office. This role involves conducting 3D scanning procedures in a heavy industrial environment, requiring frequent travel to customer sites locally and regionally across the greater Midwest, with occasional travel across the country.

• Perform reality capture tasks using lidar and photogrammetry equipment, including terrestrial scanners, mobile scanners, drones, and Matterport cameras.
• Set up job sites with targets, plan equipment placement, and capture properties accordingly.
• Process and register data using software such as Faro Scene and Autodesk ReCap.
• Deploy web viewers to enable remote viewing by clients.
• Archive and backup scan data after finalizing reality capture job scope.
• Provide training to clients on scan viewing software, if needed, via in-person or web meetings.

• Frequent travel required.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong problem-solving, analytical, and organizational skills, with attention to detail.
• Ability to manage time effectively and meet deadlines.

• Associate or bachelor's degree in engineering, science, or a related field.
• Experience with Faro Scene, LFM, Autodesk ReCap, and Leica Total Station.
• Previous reality capture and/or surveying experience.
• Active OSHA 10 and/or TWIC card.
• Autodesk AutoCAD and Plant3D proficiency.
• Licensed surveyor.
• FAA Part 107 sUAS Pilot license.
• Experience with Trimble GPS data collection.

• Ability to walk with equipment at client sites for extended periods.
• Ability to climb ladders and stairs with equipment when needed.
• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Ability to carry up to 20-30 pounds of equipment throughout the worksite.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds to put equipment into a vehicle.

Must possess a valid driver's license.
