Reality Capture Specialist

Orbital Engineering is seeking a skilled Reality Capture Technician to support our Hammond, IN office. This role involves conducting 3D scanning procedures in a heavy industrial environment, requiring frequent travel to customer sites locally and regionally across the greater Midwest, with occasional travel across the country.

• Conduct 3D scanning procedures using lidar and photogrammetry equipment, including terrestrial scanners, mobile scanners, drones, and Matterport cameras.
• Set up job sites with targets, plan equipment placement, and capture properties accordingly.
• Perform data upload, processing, and registration tasks at the office using software such as Faro Scene, Autodesk ReCap.
• Deploy web viewers to set up remote viewing by clients.
• Archive and backup scan data after finalizing reality capture job scope.
• Teach clients how to operate scan viewing software via in-person or web meetings.

• Travel will be required frequently.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent problem-solving skills, analytical and organizational skills, and attention to detail.
• Must have time management skills and the ability to meet firm deadlines.

• Associate and/or bachelor's degree in engineering, science, or related field.
• Experience with Faro Scene, LFM, Autodesk ReCap, and Leica Total Station.
• Previous reality capture and/or surveying experience.
• Active OSHA 10 and/or TWIC card.
• Autodesk AutoCAD and Plant3D proficiency.
• Licensed surveyor.
• FAA Part 107 sUAS Pilot license.
• Experience with Trimble GPS data collection.

• Must be able to walk with equipment at client sites for an entire day when needed.
• Must be able to climb ladders and stairs with equipment when needed.
• Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Ability to carry up to 20-30 pounds of equipment throughout the worksite.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds to put equipment into a vehicle.
