Job Summary

The YMCA of Upper Palmetto is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Aquatics Department Manager to oversee the operations and programs of our Aquatics department. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for managing the day-to-day activities of the department, ensuring the delivery of high-quality programs and services to our members.

Key Responsibilities
  • Department Management
    • Develop and implement departmental goals and objectives in alignment with the YMCA's mission and strategic plan.
    • Manage and supervise a team of lifeguards, swim lesson instructors, and water aerobics instructors.
    • Ensure the effective operation of the Aquatics department, including the management of budgets, resources, and personnel.
  • Program Development and Delivery
    • Design and deliver water fitness programs that meet the needs and interests of our members.
    • Develop and implement new programs and services to enhance the overall experience of our members.
    • Collaborate with other departments to ensure a seamless delivery of programs and services.
  • Member Engagement and Retention
    • Develop and implement strategies to increase member engagement and retention.
    • Provide exceptional customer service to our members, responding to their needs and concerns in a timely and professional manner.
  • Safety and Risk Management
    • Ensure the safety and well-being of our members and staff, adhering to all relevant policies and procedures.
    • Identify and mitigate risks associated with the operation of the Aquatics department.
  • Communication and Collaboration
    • Communicate effectively with staff, members, and other stakeholders to ensure the smooth operation of the department.
    • Collaborate with other departments to achieve common goals and objectives.
Requirements
  • Education and Certifications
    • High school diploma or equivalent required.
    • CPR/AED/Blood Borne Pathogens/First Aid certifications required.
  • Experience
    • At least 1 year of experience in lifeguarding, swim instruction, or water fitness programming.
  • Skills and Abilities
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
    • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
    • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and stand for long periods.
Working Conditions

The Aquatics Department Manager will work in a fast-paced environment, interacting with staff, members, and other stakeholders on a regular basis. The position requires the ability to work effectively in a team environment, with a strong focus on customer service and member engagement.
