Job Title: MRI Quality Specialist

Join the Boston Medical Center team as an MRI Quality Specialist, a key member of the MRI department. This role requires a strong understanding of MRI principles and procedures, as well as excellent leadership and communication skills.

Job Summary:

The MRI Quality Specialist is responsible for ensuring the highest quality of MRI services at Boston Medical Center. This includes verifying compliance with quality procedures, updating and maintaining protocols, and enhancing MRI safety practices. The ideal candidate will have prior experience as an MRI technologist and supervisory experience.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Verify compliance with quality procedures, including ACR phantoms, cleaning/metal detector/medication logs, and annual competency checklists.
  • Update and maintain protocols across MR scanners.
  • Enhance MRI safety practices within the department.
  • Ensure new employees are onboarded with an appropriate level of training.
  • Educate and train MR technologists on new scanning methods and departmental procedures.
  • Delegate floor duties to staff.
  • Work with the Manager of MRI services to ensure proper staffing coverage.
  • Field various projects assigned by the Manager of MRI services.
  • Act as a witness during investigatory meetings.
  • Proactively review the patient schedule for concerns or issues and make corrections as necessary.
  • Develop and maintain a device/implant log containing safety information on medical devices and possible contraindications to MRI.
  • Research and log safety information on medical devices, implants, and other possible contraindications individual patients may possess.
  • Relieve technologists for break periods.
  • Function as a dedicated MRI technologist when coverage is necessary.
  • Work alongside the Lead MRI technologist on various projects and initiatives.
  • Follow through with departmental initiatives.
  • Order and request departmental supplies.
Requirements:
  • Associates degree, Bachelor's preferred.
  • Certification in MRI from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
  • At least five years (5+) working as an MRI technologist, prior supervisory experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of Philips and GE MRI scanner software required.
  • Strong understanding of cross-sectional anatomy, MR image acquisition, and evaluation.
  • Understanding and enforcement of various MRI safety practices.
  • Ability to rely on experience, judgment, and time management skills to plan and accomplish goals.
  • Leadership abilities, prior experience in a leadership role preferred.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Prior experience working in a busy academic institution preferred.
  • Ability to teach.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office suite.
