Description
The Reservoir Engineer will play a crucial role in delivering reservoir engineering assessments to enhance Fervo Energy's geothermal exploration and development initiatives. This position is vital in defining the development strategy, assessing investment prospects, and maximizing reservoir efficiency across Fervo's expanding project portfolio. Key responsibilities include utilizing advanced reservoir simulation and geomechanics software for tasks such as history matching, production forecasting, well completion optimization, and reservoir management enhancement.
Responsibilities
- Conduct history matching of geothermal reservoir simulation models using comprehensive production data.
- Evaluate stimulation data gathered from the field to guide future well design.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of geologists, geophysicists, and drilling engineers to integrate diverse subsurface data and formulate geothermal reservoir conceptual models.
- Assist the Asset Team in the planning, design, and execution of reservoir diagnostic initiatives.
- Develop and implement data acquisition and well testing strategies for Fervo field projects; create well testing protocols and analyze field data.
- Examine production and injection data, including pressure transient data, rate-transient data, and diagnostic fracture injection test (DFIT) data.
- Perform optimization studies and economic sensitivity analyses.
- Generate uncertainty quantification and conduct production decline curve analysis for reserves forecasting of Fervo projects.
- Collaborate with the project development team on financial modeling; support asset management and investment analysis; provide simulation and reservoir engineering assistance to R&D projects.
- Create geomechanical models and assess the subsurface state of stress.
- Prepare detailed technical evaluations with actionable recommendations.
- Work alongside the resource team to identify and assess opportunities for innovative technologies to enhance reservoir performance.
- Utilize reservoir simulation for production forecasts to evaluate various reservoir management strategies and development plans.
- Engage in industry meetings and conferences.
- 5+ years of engineering experience in the oil and gas or geothermal sectors.
- Bachelor's degree in engineering; Master's degree preferred.
- Proficiency in commercial reservoir simulation software such as Eclipse, CMG, Tough2, or TETRAD.
- Experience with hydraulic fracture simulation software, including GOHFER, Kinetix, ResFrac, StimPlan, or FrackOptima.
- Familiarity with Python programming.
- Preferred: Experience in developing code for advanced reservoir simulation and geomechanics software.
- Preferred: Knowledge of SAGD, water floods, hydraulic fracturing, and well stimulation techniques in unconventional oil and gas.
- Preferred: Experience in geothermal reservoir engineering within conventional hydrothermal systems.
- Preferred: Familiarity with geomodeling software (EarthVision, GOCAD, LeapFrog, or similar).
- Preferred: Experience in data analytics.
This position offers some hybrid work flexibility, but regular in-office presence will be required. Travel is necessary for this role.
