Job Description:

The Adjunct Professor of Anatomy and Physiology position provides high-quality instruction and maintains a positive learning environment in the classroom, with a strong emphasis on teaching, supporting, and evaluating students. The incumbent must exhibit strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask while engaging large groups of people with complex material.

Responsibilities:
  • Teach assigned courses as scheduled, designing curriculum that embraces diversity and fosters talent in students while modeling inclusive teaching strategies.
  • Consider individual differences of students to design and support a range of appropriate learning activities, participating in the identification of students with academic or other needs and responding by utilizing an appropriate resource.
  • Use technology in a manner appropriate to the nature and objectives of courses and programs, communicating clearly to students the expectations concerning the use of such technology.
  • Keep accurate and appropriate records in accordance with departmental policies, maintaining attendance records, determining and submitting grades timely, and communicating progress feedback as well as other relevant information to students throughout the semester.
  • Distribute and maintain accurate syllabi that incorporates departmental, college, cross-college, and instructor requirements, conducting classes punctually and in accordance with the prescribed meeting schedule.
  • Employ appropriate assessment techniques to measure students' performance in achieving course goals and objectives.
  • Engage in periodic meetings with the department, Lead Instructor, and Chairperson relative to teaching duties and professional development.
Student Engagement and Advisement:
  • Create a positive classroom atmosphere that encourages active and collaborative learning, student effort, academic challenge, student and faculty interaction, and support for learners.
  • Use technology to assist in communication with students, encouraging a sense of community among students for learning both inside and outside the classroom.
  • Refer students to appropriate student and academic support services available at the College or in the community.
Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion:
  • Help ensure the College meets its responsibilities in identifying areas of opportunity and systemic concerns while reporting complaints alleging discrimination.
  • Create a welcoming, inclusive, equitable, and productive work and learning environment where all students, faculty members, and college employees feel valued and are able to contribute to their full potential, regardless of their differences.
  • Ensure accessible and inclusive curriculum design and teaching strategies, and specifically promote, advise, and support curriculum development aimed at creating a diverse and equitable learning environment.
  • Foster and maintain a safe environment of respect and inclusion for faculty, staff, students, and members of the community.
Qualifications:
  • Master's degree or higher from an accredited academic institution in the disciplines of human anatomy, physiology, or pathology.
  • Medical professional degree (MD, DVM, DO, or other pertinent post-baccalaureate degree) will also be considered.
  • Experience in the procedures of a teaching/learning laboratory setting.
  • State Motor Vehicle Operator's License or demonstrable ability to gain access to work site(s).
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Prior teaching experience, experience using an online course management system (Blackboard, Edmodo, Moodle), and online course instruction techniques and methods.
Compensation:

$55.88 per contact hour

Two hours equals one contact hour

Maximum of 12 contact hours per week
