Compensation: Starting pay is $19.61/hour+, based on years of experience. A sign-on bonus of up to $3,000.00 may be available for eligible candidates who commit to one year of service, in accordance with policy.

Role Overview: The Certified Central Sterile Technician is responsible for the comprehensive management of surgical instruments and supplies. This includes:

  • Executing the decontamination, cleaning, assembly, packaging, sterilization, storage, and distribution of reusable surgical instruments and equipment.
  • Ordering and receiving supplies, conducting inventory counts, and preparing cases for the Operating Room.
  • Maintaining cleanliness and organization within the storeroom, ensuring proper stock levels and verifying expiration dates.
  • Preparing and assembling surgical trays according to established protocols for storage or further processing.
  • Monitoring and documenting sterilization parameters for various sterilizers to ensure optimal functionality.
  • Cleaning and decontaminating reusable instruments and equipment using both manual and mechanical methods.
  • Gathering and distributing surgical supplies and instruments as needed.
  • Utilizing the departmental bar code system to track surgical trays and instruments throughout the processing stages.

Additional Responsibilities: The role may also involve serving as a preceptor in the primary work area, performing special projects, and undertaking other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Education: High School Graduate or Equivalent.
  • Experience: 1-2 years of experience in Sterile Processing is required.
  • Licensure: Certification as CRCST (Certified Registered Central Sterile Technician) through HSPA or CSPDT (Central Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician) through CBSPD is mandatory.

Physical Requirements: The position requires the ability to sit or stand for extended periods, frequent bending and reaching, and the capacity to lift/push/pull weights between 25-50 lbs. Candidates should be prepared to work in environments with potential exposure to fumes, chemicals, and infectious materials.
