Job Summary

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate exams to optimize scanner times and maintain flexibility for emergency cases.
  • Collaborate with cardiology and vascular providers to determine the requirements of non-standard exams.
  • Determine exam technical factors, patient positioning, frames per second, table configuration, and image orientation to produce high-quality images.
  • Operate highly technical radiation-producing equipment under the direction of vascular, cardiology, and radiology providers.
  • Perform cardiac catheterization and angiographic procedures under sterile conditions.
  • Adhere to hospital infection control and safety policies, with a focus on sterile technique, proper attire, and hand washing practices.
  • Work closely with radiologists as a member of the radiographic team, anticipating their needs and ensuring the performance of exams.
  • Prepare contrast materials for various exams, with a thorough understanding of their usage and administration.
  • Monitor patient reactions and respond promptly to ensure their safety.
  • Insert IV needles for administration of contrast material when necessary.
  • Perform quality control on the lab scanner and record contrast warmer temperature daily.
  • Check crash carts at the beginning of each shift.
  • Maintain accurate records and files of exams performed on patients.
  • Properly identify patient images and confirm patient identity according to NCHCS' Patient Identification Policy Statement.
  • Explain exams to competent patients, ensuring they understand the procedures and potential adverse reactions.
  • Stock and inventory Cardiac and Angiographic supplies and related materials.
  • Perform diagnostic radiographic examinations, continually reviewing new developments in Angio and Cardiac Cath.
  • Provide patients with high-quality scans for diagnostic purposes.
  • Practice radiation safety to minimize exposure to patients, staff, and self.
  • Ensure compliance with radiation regulations and wear film badges.
  • Participate in quality assurance activities as directed.

  • ARRT (R) - American Registry of Radiologic Technology, Radiography Certification
  • CT Tech Certification
  • BLS
  • Proficient in spoken and written English
