Job Overview

Position: Food Pantry Operations Coordinator

Status: Part-time - Approximately 20 Hours Per Week

Compensation: Hourly Rate between $15 and $19, non-exempt. This position is not eligible for benefits and is compensated bi-weekly.

Role Purpose

The Food Pantry Operations Coordinator is responsible for the daily management and oversight of pantry operations, ensuring compliance with organizational policies and health regulations.

Reporting Structure

This position reports directly to the Pantry Operations Director.

Essential Skills and Experience

The ideal candidate will possess a strong commitment to addressing food insecurity and demonstrate compassion for community members in need. Key skills include:

  • Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative spirit.
  • Integrity and organizational capabilities.
  • Leadership experience, preferably in a food pantry or similar environment.
  • Proficiency in administrative tasks using computer software.
  • A valid driver's license and the ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
Key Responsibilities

The primary duties of the Food Pantry Operations Coordinator include, but are not limited to:

  • Regularly ordering and collecting food items within budget constraints, addressing quality issues with suppliers as necessary.
  • Overseeing food recovery efforts, including vehicle use and driver supervision, as well as collaborating with other pantry sites.
  • Maintaining positive relationships with partner organizations.
  • Coordinating community food donations and accurately recording them.
  • Managing inventory effectively, ensuring a first-in, first-out (FIFO) system.
  • Administering guest registration and intake processes while ensuring confidentiality.
  • Adhering to reporting requirements and maintaining compliance with health regulations.
  • Ensuring vehicle maintenance is logged and scheduled appropriately.
  • Training and mentoring assistant coordinators and volunteers.
  • Coordinating with vendors for necessary services, such as maintenance and pest control.
  • Acting as a liaison between the pantry and host organizations.
  • Upholding a safe and healthy work environment.
Certifications

It is essential to maintain all required certifications, including Food Safety and Sexual Harassment training.

Communication

Timely responses to communications are expected, ideally within 24 hours.
