We are seeking a highly skilled bioinformatician to join our innovative research team at the Center for Precision Medicine and Genomics (CPMG).

The selected candidate will contribute to a dynamic, interdisciplinary environment and collaborate with researchers from Columbia University and beyond on a variety of national and international projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive bioinformatics support for genomic data analysis, including sequence analysis, pipeline optimization, and data management.
  • Effectively communicate complex bioinformatics findings to both technical and non-technical audiences through presentations, reports, and publications.
  • Design, develop, and optimize bioinformatics workflows and pipelines to efficiently process and analyze large-scale genomic datasets.
  • Mentor junior team members, including students and post-docs, in bioinformatics techniques and research methodologies.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, bioinformatics, or a related field with at least four years of relevant experience.
  • Master's or Doctoral degree in related field would substitute for experience.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as R, Python, and Bash.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's or PhD degree in computer science, bioinformatics, or a related field with at least two years of relevant experience.
  • Expertise in workflow management tools (e.g., CWL, Nextflow, WDL) and cloud computing platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure).
  • Advanced knowledge of statistical and machine learning techniques.
