Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled bioinformatician to join our innovative research team at the Center for Precision Medicine and Genomics (CPMG) at Columbia University. Our mission is to revolutionize healthcare through the integration of personalized medicine into clinical practice.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive bioinformatics support for genomic data analysis, including sequence analysis, pipeline optimization, and data management.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient data access, analysis, and interpretation.
  • Effectively communicate complex bioinformatics findings to both technical and non-technical audiences through presentations, reports, and publications.
  • Design, develop, and optimize bioinformatics workflows and pipelines to efficiently process and analyze large-scale genomic datasets.
  • Mentor junior team members, including students and post-docs, in bioinformatics techniques and research methodologies.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, bioinformatics, or a related field with at least four years of relevant experience.
  • Master's or Doctoral degree in related field would substitute for experience.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as R, Python, and Bash.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's or PhD degree in computer science, bioinformatics, or a related field with at least two years of relevant experience.
  • Expertise in workflow management tools (e.g., CWL, Nextflow, WDL) and cloud computing platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure).
  • Advanced knowledge of statistical and machine learning techniques.
