Empowering Recent RN Graduates

The VNS Health Nurse Residency Program is a comprehensive two-year training program designed to equip recent RN graduates with the skills and knowledge needed to succeed in home care. This hybrid program combines in-person and virtual classroom instruction with hands-on clinical experience, guided by preceptor supervision and mentorship from esteemed nurse educators.

Key Responsibilities
  • Participate in classroom learning activities, including critical thinking, evidence-based best practice assessments, care planning, and evaluation of care
  • Shadow RNs to gain field experience and review experiences in group debriefs
  • Practice in the community with a preceptor as part of an interdisciplinary care team
  • Deliver personalized nursing and care management to patients in their home or care facilities
  • Constantly evaluate evolving patient needs and respond with plan of care adjustments
  • Achieve continued professional growth through attendance at in-services, training, continued formal education, and select journal readership
Requirements
  • Recently received RN license
  • Degree in Nursing from an approved program required
  • No prior work experience in nursing required
  • Ability to walk up and down steps to access patient residences
