Dental Care Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Dental Assistant to join our team at Hunter Health Clinic. As a key member of our dental department, you will play a vital role in providing quality patient care and supporting our dentists and dental hygienists in the delivery of primary care dental services.
Key Responsibilities- Assist dentists and dental hygienists in patient care, including scheduled appointments and emergency situations.
- Provide patient education and support, answering questions and providing directions as authorized by the dentist or dental hygienist.
- Prepare patient registration forms and ensure their accuracy.
- Prepare patient treatments as directed by the dentist or dental hygienist, following department protocols.
- Expose and develop dental radiographs, adhering to state regulations and Dental Department directives.
- Maintain dental department equipment, sterile supplies, and patient records, ensuring compliance with HHC policies and procedures.
- Participate in health promotion and disease prevention activities, both on-site and off-site, as required.
- Travel when necessary to meet operational needs.
- Distribute clinic literature and provide explanations of patient rights and services.
- Assist with dental billing and data compilation.
- Certified Dental Assistant and/or completion of an accredited course in dental assisting preferred.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- 1-3 years of experience as an assistant preferred.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
- Talking: The ability to speak clearly and effectively.
- Average Hearing: The ability to hear average conversations and respond accordingly.
- Repetitive Motion: The ability to sit, stand, walk, and use hands to handle, feel, and reach.
- Finger Dexterity: The ability to use fingers to make small movements, such as typing, picking up objects, and pinching fingers together.
- Average Visual Abilities: The ability to focus on items clearly, including close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Working Conditions: The ability to work in a well-lit, climate-controlled environment with occasional high noise levels and potential exposure to infectious diseases.
- Physical Strength: The ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.
- Mathematical Ability: The ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's.
