Role Responsibilities

As a Peer Recovery Specialist, your primary focus will be on engaging with patients in the community as they embark on their recovery journey. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting outreach and educational initiatives for eligible individuals
  • Performing individual assessments to identify needs and eligibility for services
  • Maintaining accurate records for care coordination
  • Completing required reporting on a weekly and monthly basis
  • Facilitating ongoing coordination of follow-up care and support services
  • Building and nurturing relationships with community partners
  • Participating in required training and meetings
  • Adhering to national regulations regarding Protected Health Information
  • Undertaking additional projects and duties as assigned
Ideal Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will possess lived experience with substance use disorders and medication-assisted treatment, demonstrating confidence in educating others and supporting individuals at the beginning of their recovery process.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Certification as a Peer Specialist is required.
  • A minimum of 2 years of self-identified recovery from substance use or mental health disorders, with 2 years of abstinence from illicit substances and alcohol.
  • At least 1 year of experience in community health or addiction treatment.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively engage with patients and adapt to their individual needs.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with organizational and community partners.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy in data management.
