About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Substance Use Disorder Counselor to join our team at Unity Care NW. As a Counselor, you will play a vital role in providing diagnosis and treatment to individuals experiencing homelessness with significant co-occurring mental health needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide empathetic and trauma-informed counseling services to individuals in non-clinical settings, including community hygiene centers.
  • Work collaboratively with a Family Nurse Practitioner, Medical Assistant, Behavioral Health Consultant, and Case Manager to ensure comprehensive care.
  • Develop and implement treatment plans that address the unique needs of our unhoused patients.
  • Conduct assessments, screenings, and interventions to identify and address substance use disorders.
  • Collaborate with community partners to provide referrals and connect clients to primary care services.
Requirements
  • Washington State Department of Health Substance Use Disorder Professional (SUDP) certification.
  • Associate degree in human services or related field, or successful completion of 90 quarter or 60 semester college credits in courses from an approved school.
  • A full understanding of all aspects of the substance use disorder profession.
  • Skilled in using Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, as well as the ability to learn other systems used at UCNW.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Ability to communicate bilingually in Spanish or Russian.
  • Experience on a PACT team (Program for Assertive Community Treatment).
