Job Description

As a Collections Recovery Manager at PenFed, you will play a critical role in driving the strategy of our collections unit, ensuring corporate strategic initiatives are supported, and processes are aligned with division targets. This role will oversee the day-to-day operations of the recovery unit, providing oversight and management of the sale and assignment of charged-off loans, as well as in-house collection activity.

Responsibilities:
  • Manage a team to ensure internal standards are met in a compliant manner, adhering to applicable federal/state regulations and established standard levels of service.
  • Implement performance management, including coaching, counseling, employee discipline, communicating job expectations, and participating in scheduled training and personal development opportunities.
  • Oversee assigned tasks and unit employees, including recruitment, scheduling, task completion, performance evaluations, and providing guidance on recovery-related issues.
  • Responsible for the successful performance of assigned personnel by consistently mentoring staff in department policies and procedures, productivity, quality, job knowledge, and innovation.
  • Monitor daily recovery on consumer loans, ensuring accounts are thoroughly worked promptly by the Recovery Specialists.
  • Manage policy and procedure related to recovery collections as necessary.
  • Responsible for creating and publishing accurate reporting, including daily, weekly, and monthly recovery reports, consolidating and interpreting various reports regarding portfolios serviced by collection agencies.
  • Provide effective communication and service to members, department staff, vendors, attorneys, court systems, and other departments.
  • Collaborate with consumer collections management staff in the development and support of corporate and business unit-level initiatives.
  • Identify training and cross-training opportunities for recovery collections staff as appropriate.
  • Record all recovery activity in the appropriate collection systems, documenting the status of defaulted loans and following up continually for pertinent documentation as required.
  • Stay abreast of all industry trends related to recovery collections.
  • Keep informed of new ideas and developments through publications, membership in professional organizations, and contact with other financial institutions.
  • Review competitive market practices and provide recommendations to Senior Leadership concerning adjustments to programs in related areas.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field required.
  • Minimum of eight (8) years experience in collections with a focus on asset recovery required.
  • Minimum of three (3) years supervisor/management experience required.
  • Experience in managing multiple teams/functions and building relationships with people at various levels.
  • Knowledge of the roles, skills, and technical knowledge required to achieve goals within the relevant technical discipline.
  • Strong leadership capability, including interpersonal skills, mentoring, coaching, collaborating, and team building.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Effective time management, problem-solving, and multi-tasking skills.
  • Effective presentation skills with experience delivering data to various management levels.
Compensation:

The estimated salary range for this role is $85,000 - $110,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
