Position: CNC Machinist II / Advanced Model Maker II
Role Overview
We are in search of a highly proficient and seasoned Advanced Model Maker II to become an integral part of our Research and Development division. In this pivotal role, you will be tasked with producing various iterations of components for testing and assessment, crafting hand tool prototypes to exact specifications, and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to ensure the delivery of superior prototypes.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Test Lab Supervisor in managing Model Shop equipment, overseeing workload, and ensuring timely project execution.
- Produce high-quality prototypes for design validation and performance evaluation.
- Work closely with project teams to guarantee alignment with program timelines.
- Engage with external vendors on intricate projects and assess the need for outsourcing.
- Operate and program 3 & 5 Axis CNC mills, wire EDM machines, and manual equipment such as mills, lathes, and grinders for the fabrication of complex prototypes and test components.
- Employ various Rapid Prototyping (RP) techniques and equipment, including 3D printing (FDM, Poly-jet Technology).
- Utilize Microsoft Office, SmartSheet, and CAD/CAM software (Creo, Hypermill 3&5-axis, CAMplete 5-axis, Esprit EDM) for daily operations.
- Conduct routine maintenance and servicing of model shop equipment and machinery to ensure optimal performance.
- Maintain a clean and efficient workspace following 6S principles.
- Exhibit a proactive approach with a strong sense of urgency.
Qualifications
- Associate's degree in CNC Machining, Computer Integrated Machining, or a related field.
- Proficiency in computer applications, including Microsoft Office, SmartSheet, and CAD/CAM software.
- Experience with wire EDM machinery.
- Strong understanding of 3-axis technology and CNC programming, including G & M codes.
- Capability to perform precise measurements on machined components for quality assurance.
- In-depth knowledge of common materials utilized in tool and prototype fabrication.
- Familiarity with engineering drawings, model specifications, and tolerancing.
- Self-motivated individual who can operate with minimal supervision.
- Detail-oriented team player capable of thriving in a deadline-driven environment.
- Adaptability to changing priorities essential for successful project completion.
- Strong focus on detail and a mindset geared towards continuous improvement.
