Job Summary:

Vancouver Public Schools is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated School Counselor to join our team. As a key member of our school community, you will play a vital role in supporting the academic, social, and emotional growth of our students.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide comprehensive counseling services to students, including individual and group sessions, to help them develop positive self-concepts, enhance open communication, and create a positive school climate.

Work closely with parents and teachers to ensure a collaborative approach to student support and development.

Develop and implement a comprehensive student needs-based counseling program aligned with the American School Counselors Association Model.

Participate in professional meetings and training sessions to stay up-to-date on best practices and industry developments.

Requirements:

Valid Washington State Educational Staff Associate school counselor certificate.

Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher learning; Master's degree preferred.

Strong understanding of issues related to poverty, gang affiliation, and substance abuse.

Ability to work effectively with diverse groups of teachers, students, and parents.

Experience conducting large-group presentations and both small group and individual counseling sessions.
