Job Title: Senior Civil Water Engineer

Merrick & Company is seeking a highly skilled Senior Civil Water Engineer to join our Surface Water/Stormwater Engineering Infrastructure team.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in the design and construction oversight of surface water and urban stormwater systems, as well as excellent communication and project management skills.

The position will be located in our Denver, CO, Greenwood Village, CO, Colorado Springs, CO, or Loveland, CO locations, with some travel to other Merrick offices required.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform assignments in the analysis and design of river, drainageway, and urban stormwater systems.
  • Prepare and review working drawings, details, layouts, cost estimates, studies, reports, and work products.
  • Design tasks, prepare bid documents, including drawings and specifications, and organize all drawings, reports, calculations, and associated project deliverables, with supervision from project managers and senior staff.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of Merrick procedures and apply them when required.
  • Make sound engineering decisions, exercise initiative, judgment, and knowledge commensurate with the responsibilities of the position.
  • Lead project progress meetings, make project presentations, and provide clear written communications.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering.
  • P.E. (Professional Engineer) certification in any state, with the ability to obtain licensure in the State of Colorado within 6 months.
  • Minimum 12 years of experience in the design and construction oversight of surface water and urban stormwater systems, or in land development, or related field of civil engineering.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to produce well-coordinated civil design documents.
  • Valid driver's license, good driving record, and insurability under Merrick's insurance carrier.
  • Eligibility to work in the United States without sponsorship.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or GIS Systems.
  • Public works design experience with local, State, and Federal governments.
  • Land development experience.
