About the Role

Merrick & Company is seeking a highly skilled Senior Civil Water Engineer to join our Surface Water/Stormwater Engineering Infrastructure team. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing assignments in the analysis and design of river, drainageway, and urban stormwater systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and Analysis: Perform assignments in the analysis and design of river, drainageway, and urban stormwater systems.
  • Document Preparation: Prepare and review working drawings, details, layouts, cost estimates, studies, reports, and work products.
  • Project Management: Perform design tasks, prepare bid documents including drawings and specifications, and organizing all drawings, reports, calculations, and associated project deliverables, with supervision from project managers and senior staff.
  • Knowledge and Skills: Must become knowledgeable of Merrick procedures, understand them, and be able to apply them when required.
  • Leadership and Communication: The successful candidate must possess good interpersonal skills to effectively interface with clients and Local, State, and Federal government agencies and be capable of leading project progress meetings, making project presentations, and providing clear written communications.
  • Additional Responsibilities: Additional duties may involve project management for projects. Some travel may be required. Field/construction activities may be required.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelors Degree in Engineering.
  • Certifications: Required Certifications: P.E. (Professional Engineer) in any state with the ability to obtain licensure in the State of Colorado within 6 months.
  • Experience: Minimum twelve (12) years experience in the design and construction oversight of surface water and urban stormwater systems, or in land development, or related field of civil engineering.
  • Skills: Strong written and verbal communications skills. Ability to produce well-coordinated civil design documents. Must have a valid driver's license, a good driving record, and be insurable under Merricks insurance carrier.
  • Eligibility: Must be eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship.
Desired Qualifications
  • Software Skills: Experience in AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or GIS Systems preferred.
  • Public Works Experience: Public works design experience with local, State, and Federal governments preferred.
  • Land Development Experience: Land development experience a plus.
