Job Summary

The Mental Health Coordinator II is responsible for coordinating various services, including individual finances, activities, program services, positive behavioral support needs, family involvement, education/vocational programs, health care/nutrition, and household management. This role requires strong communication and time management skills, as well as the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities

* Staff scheduling and coordination
* Assisting the supervisor in maintaining consistency in programming, individual care, and communication with staff and support team members
* Carrying out the responsibilities and duties of the behavioral support staff during all direct care shifts
* Providing hands-on and/or verbal assistance, encouragement, mentoring, and guidance to individuals served
* Ensuring the comfort, safety, and personal growth of individuals served
* Assisting with daily living tasks, such as moving around, getting in and out of bed, dressing, bathing, personal hygiene, and more
* Light housekeeping tasks and meal preparation
* Building relationships with individuals served and teammates
* Attending community occasions and fun activities, such as outdoor walks, games, and social events
* Working on tailored outcomes for individuals and behavioral guidance plans as needed
* Transporting individuals served to appointments or other activities outside the home

Requirements

* 18 years or older to work in residential adult programs and at least 21 years or older to work in child foster care homes
* Good decision-making, communication, and time management skills
* Responsible, reliable, and able to carry out job functions without direct supervision
* Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record as determined by Dungarvin policy
* Current auto liability insurance
* Computer skills for documentation
* Ability to perform personal cares
* High school diploma or GED Certificate
* Three years' experience in delivery of significant behavioral health services
* Ability to demonstrate de-escalation techniques, conflict resolution, positive support methods, and person-centered approach
* A minimum of one year of lead staff experience in residential services or a two-year degree in a related field
* Ability to understand and implement behavior support plans, treatment plans, functional assessments, individualized support plans, and person-centered plans
* Physically fit and able to stand, squat, bend, or walk for long periods of time, with the ability to lift 50lbs

Skills Critical to Success

* Ability to assess individuals' mental health status through interviews and observation, following a plan of care, de-escalation techniques, positive support role, and crisis intervention techniques
* Ability to communicate effectively, including reading, writing, and speaking English clearly
* Ability to assess situations and make sound judgments when given guidance and priorities, anticipating possible outcomes of actions and reacting accordingly
* Ability to work as a team member to maintain consistency and quality services, exchanging support, constructive criticism, and ideas with others
* Ability to effectively work one-on-one with individuals and within group settings
* Ability to plan and prioritize work to manage time effectively and accomplish assigned tasks, self-managing tasks effectively and communicating needs
* Ability to maintain a positive professional and therapeutic rapport with individuals who struggle with significant behavioral or mental health concerns

Additional Information

This position may be full or part-time, with a mixture of weekday and weekend hours. All persons in this position should be prepared to work weekends and holidays.
