Overview of the Role

The Back Office US division at RWE Supply & Trading Americas (RWESTA) plays a pivotal role in managing wholesale, contract, and trade settlements within North American markets. This encompasses the confirmation and settlement of transactions, the calculation and settlement of nonstandard contracts, and the validation and processing of grid (merchant) settlements.
Our team ensures a comprehensive and quality-controlled process throughout the 'Trade Lifecycle Process', collaborating closely with Front Office, Back Office, Risk, Finance, Accounting, and Legal departments.
We manage a diverse portfolio of commodities, including power, ancillary services, renewable energy certificates, and gas. The Back Office serves as the operational backbone of our trading business, ensuring seamless operations.

Your primary responsibilities will include:
  • Overseeing contract relationships with external clients, ensuring timely and precise invoicing across various energy markets.
  • Analyzing revenue streams for accurate revenue recognition of electricity sales through Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) and merchant energy transactions.
  • Conducting meter validation and confirming the accuracy of shadow calculations within acceptable limits.
  • Communicating and managing validated settlements accrual and invoice data to Revenue Accounting teams for timely and accurate processing.
  • Deepening your expertise in electric market settlements (e.g., ERCOT, PJM, MISO, NYISO, etc.).
  • Maintaining and enhancing all Settlement systems, including PCI, ENDUR, and various complex Excel models, while assisting in special projects.
  • Managing auditor requests related to revenue and receivables, ensuring timely completion of supporting documentation.
Essential Qualifications

Do you possess a meticulous attention to detail and outstanding relationship management abilities? Have you worked in a Settlements / Finance or similar capacity within a dynamic environment?

Key qualifications include:
  • A minimum of 4 years of experience in energy settlement, focusing on Power Purchase Agreements, merchant sales, and energy hedge transactions.
  • An undergraduate degree in business, mathematics, engineering, environmental sciences, accounting, finance, economics, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Exceptional communication skills, with frequent interactions with Traders, Schedulers, Finance, and Back Office teams.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, with excellent problem-solving capabilities.
  • A self-motivated individual with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • A proven ability to thrive in a collaborative environment.
  • Proficient in MS Office (including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
  • A willingness to learn and embrace challenges in a rapidly evolving environment.
  • A commitment to delivering excellent customer service for both internal and external stakeholders, along with a readiness to share knowledge with team members.
Desirable Skills
  • Basic knowledge of IT software such as PCI, ENDUR, and SAP.
  • Experience in software integration projects (e.g., requirements creation, design collaboration, and User Acceptance Testing).
