Pulmonary Function Technician Job Summary

The Pulmonary Function Technician is a key member of the Pulmonary Medicine team at Nuvance Health, responsible for performing tests, maintaining equipment, and ensuring quality control.

Key Responsibilities:

• Respond promptly to stat requests and produce accurate, well-presented reports.
• Expedite interpretation and communicate results effectively.
• Provide technical support to other departments, such as Cardiology and GI, as needed.

Equipment and Supply Management:

• Maintain equipment in good working order and ensure a clean, safe environment.
• Manage supplies and inventory, ensuring adequate stock with fiscal accountability.

Staff Training and Development:

• Ensure staff working in the lab or performing tests are properly trained and competent.
• Document staff competency and teach students the basics of PFT testing.

Quality Assurance and Improvement:

• Review lab procedures and results to ensure quality testing is performed.
• Maintain proficiency testing for JCAHO, CAP, and STATE requirements.

Additional Responsibilities:

• Enter charges for the Pulmonary Lab, Pulmonary Rehab, and Bronchoscopy through Eclipsys.
• Make daily rounds and record emergency kit numbers, checking kit dates and replacing as necessary.
• Assist with monthly environmental rounds and present results of ABG Critical Value Result audits to the manager of Pulmonary Medicine QA.

Requirements:
Registered Cardiopulmonary Technologist (RPFT), BLS certification.
