Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Pharmacy Intern Grad to join our team at Walgreens. As a Pharmacy Intern Grad, you will play a critical role in providing exceptional customer service, ensuring the efficient operation of the pharmacy, and promoting the growth of our business.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide pharmacy consulting services to customers, including medication counseling, drug interaction awareness, and preventive healthcare services.
  • Ensure the proper compounding, dispensation, review, and verification of prescribed medications within regulatory guidelines and company policies.
  • Support the efficient workflow of the pharmacy and assist the pharmacy manager in identifying ways to optimize pharmacy financials, inventory management, and customer experience.
  • Engage customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services, resolving customer issues in a timely manner, and answering questions to ensure a positive customer experience.
  • Develop strong relationships with most valuable customers by anticipating their needs and proactively offering services, supporting efforts to enhance customer experience by increasing focus on healthcare services.
  • Counsel patients and answer their questions regarding medication usage, side effects, interactions, contraindications, patient information privacy, generics, less expensive medicines, over-the-counter products, and refer to medical providers as needed.
  • Perform pharmacist tasks, including compounding, drug therapy reviews, verification, and medication management, reviewing, interpreting, and accurately dispensing prescribed medications when necessitated by workload.
  • Ensure the pharmacy operates in accordance with regulations, company policies, and standards, assisting the pharmacy manager with establishing procedures that promote the efficient workflow of the pharmacy.
  • Responsible for the opening and closing of the pharmacy and shift change duties, ensuring the use of all elements of the Good Faith Dispensing policy in conjunction with state and federal controlled substance laws when filling prescriptions.
  • Maintain current knowledge of information technology associated with pharmacy systems, such as Intercom Plus, registers, automation, and StoreNET, to provide support to customers and pharmacy staff, proposing and implementing enhancements to pharmacy systems to further promote productivity.
  • Ensure the accurate processing of insurance claims to resolve customer issues and prevent payment rejections, following up with insurance companies and medical providers, and participating in 3rd party audits.
  • Follow up with medical providers' offices to clarify prescribed medications, dosages, refills, interactions, and allergies, suggesting alternative medications and answering medical provider questions.
  • Perform retail, clinical, and wellness services, such as immunizations, flu shots, diabetes awareness, and other preventive healthcare services.
  • Assist and support the pharmacy manager in analyzing performance data, including pharmacy financials, customer service, and implementation of procedures for pharmacy asset protection and inventory management.
  • Develop and maintain good relationships with local medical community, including physicians, nurses, and other healthcare providers, participating in community outreach activities to promote the pharmacy business and further enhance growth opportunities.
  • Partner with Central Pharmacy Operations for customer registration, 3rd party reviews, and assist with resolving customer issues to support the Well Experience locations.
  • Conduct virtual product review by following specific company procedures and guidelines, reducing transactional tasks.
  • Assist the Pharmacy Manager with staff hiring and training, reinforcing the direction of Pharmacy Manager in staff performance by coaching, providing constructive feedback, monitoring customer service, and fostering employee development.
  • Promote teamwork and motivate team members by establishing expectations, monitoring and recognizing progress, and fostering a shared vision.
  • Maintain current knowledge and skills related to pharmacy and healthcare by reading pharmacy-related journals, company publications, and communications, maintaining awareness of developments in retail and management, and pursuing best practices that would enhance performance.
  • Obtain necessary certifications, education credits, and training, such as People Plus Learning modules, as required by the Company.
  • Seek professional development by monitoring one's performance, soliciting constructive feedback, and leveraging pharmacy manager and store manager as mentor and coach.
Requirements
  • Willingness to obtain a Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm D) degree from an accredited educational institution prior to the start date in position.
  • Willingness to obtain pharmacist licensure from the respective Board of Pharmacy in the states within the district within 90 days of hire per district guidelines.
  • Experience performing prescription dispensing activities that demonstrate a strong working knowledge of applicable state and federal controlled substance laws.
  • Certified Immunizer or willing to become an immunizer within 90 days of hire.
Preferred Qualifications

The actual hourly salary within this range that you will be offered will depend on a variety of factors, including geography, skills and abilities, education, experience, and other relevant factors.
