Job Description

At Arkansas Hospice, Inc., we are seeking a highly skilled Medical Billing Supervisor to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing all Medicare, Medicaid, private insurance, and patient balance billing for hospice and palliative care services, as well as patient room and board billing when necessary.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Train and supervise Medical Billing Specialists.
  • Oversee generating invoices for nursing homes and verify the accuracy of invoices received from nursing homes.
  • Assist with educating nursing homes' billing departments on proper billing procedures.
  • Advise patients and their families on their financial responsibilities toward their hospice care.
  • Assist the Finance Director in reconciling accounts receivable and preparing month-end reports.
  • Have access to DDE and other Medicare billing software to support billers.
  • Conduct staff in-services on clinical staff and billing department interactions.
  • Collaborate with the Finance Director on statistical information for the Medicare Cost Report and internal management needs.
  • Enter annual MSA calculations and rate increases, verify correct CPT, HCPCS, and ICD-10 codes in the EHR.
  • Ensure all CR's affecting billing are reflected and billed correctly to agencies in a timely manner.
  • Oversee the implementation and continuing compliance of the collection policy.
  • Complete credentialing and re-credentialing packets in a timely manner.
  • Assist with other office functions as needed.
  • Seek cost-effective solutions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Chief Executive Officer, Finance Director, or Chief Financial Officer.
  • Maintain compliance with quarterly Medicare Credit Balance Report submission.
  • Review outstanding accounts receivable and unbilled amounts with the contracted Billing Agency and provide necessary information for NOE submission and follow-up on outstanding accounts receivable.
  • Delegate assignments and projects to staff.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma required; Bachelor's degree in business, accounting, or mathematics preferred.
  • A minimum of five years experience in Medicare/Medicaid/Commercial billing; previous supervisory experience also required.
  • May be required to work flexible hours and occasional overtime.
