We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Substance Abuse Counselor to join our team. As a key member of our staff, you will play a vital role in helping our students overcome substance abuse and achieve their goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct assessments, develop intervention plans, and make referrals for identified students.
  • Develop and implement prevention groups and programs to promote healthy lifestyles.
  • Provide counseling, relapse prevention, and prevention education to students.
  • Network with center staff and community agencies to provide support services to students.
  • Assist in developing center operating procedures for program components.
  • Collaborate with the Center Mental Health Consultant, Center Physician, and Health Services staff to ensure intervention components are fully understood and integrated in the center.
  • Work with the Recreation Department to develop leisure activities and incentives that reinforce healthy lifestyles.
  • Act as liaison to the Center Mental Health Consultant and Center Standards Officer for substance abuse issues.
  • Perform quality assurance record audits and maintain statistics for quarterly reporting.
  • Ensure collection and handling comply with chain of custody procedures.
  • Support the Center Tobacco Use Prevention Program through education and training.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree from a four-year college or university, or equivalent combination of Education and training.
  • Certificate from a recognized state or National credentialing Board for drug and/or alcohol counseling.
