Position Summary:
The Volunteer Program Manager plays a crucial role in the development and management of our volunteer initiatives, ensuring that all operational areas are adequately staffed.
Key Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with the Volunteer Manager to recruit, interview, and onboard volunteers for various roles, including kitchen support, reception, and housekeeping.
• Organize and maintain a comprehensive volunteer schedule to ensure all programs and events are fully staffed, aligning volunteer skills and interests with organizational needs.
• Coordinate training and orientation sessions for new volunteers, leveraging insights from staff and experienced volunteers.
• Actively seek out and participate in volunteer recruitment events such as fairs, festivals, and outreach programs at educational institutions.
• Maintain effective communication with volunteers through weekly newsletters, emails, and other communication channels to keep them informed and engaged.
• Ensure accurate tracking of volunteer hours and contributions, providing timely reports and data as needed.
• Fill in for volunteer shifts as necessary, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, and assist with additional tasks as directed.
Resident Care/Service Accountabilities:
• Uphold the mission, vision, and values of Francis House.
• Exhibit a commitment to the philosophy of care that defines our organization.
• Show sensitivity and understanding towards issues related to death, dying, and bereavement, while adhering to ethical standards in palliative care.
• Comply with all health and safety regulations as mandated by federal, state, and local laws.
• Maintain confidentiality regarding organizational and client information at all times.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
• Oversee the recruitment, interviewing, and placement of volunteers; provide training in operational procedures, and manage work assignments and schedules.
Qualifications:
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Significant experience in volunteer coordination is preferred.
• Previous volunteer and supervisory experience is advantageous.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Proficient in computer skills, including email communication and basic word processing.
• Familiarity with volunteer management software is a plus.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential.
• Demonstrated organizational and project management capabilities, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
Equipment Used:
• Computer, printer, photocopier, telephone, calculator, and postage meter.
Software Proficiency:
• Outlook, Word, Excel, VolunteerHub, Constant Contact, Canva.
Physical and Mental Requirements:
• Ability to perform various physical tasks including sitting, standing, walking, and lifting up to 10 pounds.
• Close attention to detail is required for data analysis and interpretation.
Work Environment:
• The role is primarily office-based with minimal exposure to adverse environmental conditions.
